Who am I ?

My name is Ricarda I am a psychologist (M.Sc.) and Mental Health Counselor. My approach combines evidence-based Counseling methods with warmth and compassion.

Ever since I was a teenager I have been highly interested in the human psyche and personal development. This passion led me to my studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany), where I completed both my Bachelor's in Psychology (B.Sc.) as well as my Master's in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (M.Sc.). Through my academic background and additional trainings I have built a broad foundation in different evidence-based approaches which now shape the way I work with my clients and I'm committed to pursue regular continuing education.

One approach that I particularly value is Acceptance-Commitment-Therapy (ACT) - an innovative therapeutic method that helps my counseling clients manage unpleasant thoughts and feelings, reconnect with the present moment and take valuable action to live a more joyous and fulfilling life.

Using tools from Somatic Therapy my clients learn how to ease uncomfortable bodily sensations and gain tools and techniques for grounding, relaxation, and nervous system regulation. Somatic Therapy recognizes the interconnectedness of the Mind and Body and has been shown to effectively help individuals cope with stress and overwhelm.

Additionally, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that aims to recognize and understand negative or unhelpful thinking and behavioral patterns. CBT has been shown in numerous studies to be one of the most effective therapeutic techniques. I like use tools from CBT to challenge my client's negative thoughts and beliefs and slowly replace them with healthier and kinder ones. This is a great approach for somebody who is dealing with a lot of negative self-talk, anxiety or self-worth problems.
When a client of mine feels stuck in their life or would like to make a meaningful change, I use tools from Motivational Interviewing (MI). This has shown to be an effective approach in resolving ambivalence within my client and help them feel inspired to take steps into the right direction.

My choice of method is always guided by the unique needs, goals, and personality of the person I am working with.
Your needs determine the approach I choose.

How we connect on a personal level is the most important factor in therapy. During my sessions I create a space where you feel safe, seen, and taken seriously. A space where you don’t have to explain or justify yourself and be as you are. I am here to support you in understanding yourself better, recognizing inner patterns, and finding new, authentic ways of relating to yourself. Mental Health Counseling is not about finding a quick fix but about creating meaningful, lasting change towards more self-compassion, inner stability, and deeper connection with yourself and others.

*Please note: The title PSYCHOLOGIST is defined differently across countries. I was trained as a psychologist (M.Sc.) in Germany and I hold a Master's degree in "Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy". However, I solely provide non-clinical COUNSELING — not psychotherapy, diagnosis, or any form of medical care. In cases of mental illness, counseling is absolutely not sufficient and psychotherapy is essential.
